Frequently asked questions

Getting started

What is Setu?

Setu is the developer API from SUPREME AI. One key gives you AI models, tools that act in your users’ apps, and the controls that keep those actions safe and logged.

How do I start?

Sign in to the Setu console, create an API key with the scopes you need, and make your first call. The Developers page has a three-step quickstart.

Is there an SDK?

The OpenAI SDKs work for chat and audio: change the base URL and use your Setu key. A Setu TypeScript SDK is coming soon; until then, use plain HTTP for tools and connections.

Models

Does my OpenAI code work?

For chat completions, yes. Requests, streaming and tool calls follow the OpenAI format. Change the base URL and the key.

Which models can I use?

The models listed at /v1/models, based on DeepSeek and Gemini today. Higher models depend on your plan.

Can Setu speak Nepali?

Yes. Text to speech supports Nepali, Hindi and English, from the same engine as the SUPREME AI app. Speech to text is on the same key.

Can I use LangChain or the Vercel AI SDK?

Yes. Any client that lets you set an OpenAI base URL and uses the Chat Completions API works. The docs have guides for LangChain and the Vercel AI SDK.

What happens if a model provider is down?

Requests to a DeepSeek-based model are retried on a Gemini model automatically. The response still names the model you asked for.

Can I generate images?

Not yet. Image generation is built but switched off for now.

Tools and connections

Which apps can Setu act in?

Gmail, Google Calendar, Drive, Docs, Sheets and Tasks (read and write), and Slides, Contacts, Photos, YouTube, GitHub, Jira and Notion (read), plus any OpenAPI or MCP server you import. Slack, Outlook and OneDrive, Sparrow SMS and eSewa/Khalti actions are coming soon.

How do my users connect their apps?

You create a connect link for a user and an app. They open it, sign in to the app, and the connection is stored for that user and project.

Can an agent send email without asking?

No. Write actions answer “approval required” until someone approves them, and each approval is used once.

Does Setu work with MCP?

Yes. Setu runs an MCP server your clients can call with your key, and you can import outside MCP servers as toolkits.

Billing

What does it cost?

There is no Setu fee during beta. Calls use the credits in your SUPREME AI account, with rate limits and spend caps. We will announce pricing ahead of time, with no surprise charges.

Is a failed call charged?

A failed tool run is not charged: its credit hold is released. Speech is charged only when audio is produced.

Where do I see my usage?

In the Usage page of the Setu console, or with GET /v1/usage and a key that has the usage:read scope.

Privacy and safety

Is my data used to train AI models?

No. Your data and your users’ data are not used to train AI models without opt-in.

How long is data kept?

Setu keeps an audit log and a record of each call so you can trace what happened. You set how long records are kept for each project (at least 30 days for call records).

How are keys stored?

Setu stores only a hash of each key, limited to the scopes you chose. You can rotate a key at any time.

How do I report a problem?

Write to support@supremeai.services and include the requestId from the error if you have one.
